Bandar Seri Botani
Hotel in Ipoh, Malaysia
In late 2018, Taiko Developments, one of the largest developer in Malaysia, commissioned us to design a 330 keys 5-stars hotel in Bandar Seri Botani Estate, Ipoh, Malaysia. The development is able to accommodate different demographic which include a 50 family suites wing and a combined 100 business rooms and 230 standard tourist rooms tower block.
Facilities include an open door lap pool, children’s pool and outdoor play area, gym, cafe lobby, breakfast dining, VIP lounge and a large adaptive multi-function hall which can accommodate 1000 dining guests.
We were deeply inspired by Ipoh’s famous tin mine past, an important era that shapes the current modern city of Ipoh. The vertical facade elements mimic the stilts of the tin mine machine, vaguely hinting the mining past.
Standard local economical construction methodology and repetitious facade system were adopted to meet Client’s strict budget. We decisively deconstructed the volumes into simple boxes, stacked above one another, creating an elegant facade system which is unique to the local architecture, making it a landmark and identifiable piece of architecture in the precinct. Sight lines have been maintained to encompass the views of a beautiful park, Ecopark One, which is located adjacent to the development as well as the limestone mountains range beyond.
